Abstract

Objective: This study aims to explore the use of online language learning platforms among EFL learners, focusing on preferences, effectiveness, and challenges.

Method: A qualitative approach was employed through interviews with users of Duolingo, Babbel, Memrise, and Tandem.

Findings: Learners selected platforms based on ease of use, motivational features, and learning goals, though limitations remained, particularly in consistent speaking practice and technical reliability

Contribution: This study highlights how platform features shape learner preferences and engagement, offering insights for improving interactivity and speaking-oriented design.

Novelty: The study provides a comparative, learner-centered analysis that reveals platform-specific challenges affecting speaking fluency development.
